HENLEY PEREGRINES 2025
I first noticed an occasional Peregrine around the church about 4 years ago then, in January this year, there
was more Peregrine activity. In March it was clear that a male and a female had taken up residence.
There was some courting behaviour, and they began mating in the middle of March. I had no
access to the tower but guessed that they started egg laying at the end of March. About
5 weeks later, the adults were bringing prey to one of the turrets, and the first
fledgling appeared on top of the turret in the middle of June. A further two
young, which have brownish plumage, also appeared and began flapping
their wings and flying short distances around the tower. The adults
continued to bring food to the tower but gradually encouraged
the young to follow them on hunting trips. By the end of July,
the birds had dispersed.
In the gallery below is a selection of images taken over the 6-month period.
