I visited mountains in the south east of Bulgaria in February 2020 in conjunction with
a short trip to Northern Greece.
Golden Eagle
A magnificent predator that is found in small numbers across the mountains of Europe.
Griffon Vulture
A scavanger now endangered in Europe
European Jackal & Nutcracker
Jackals are more usually associated with Africa, but are in eastern European countries, including Bulgaria.
The Nutcracker is a mountain bird, and these shown here were in a ski resort near Sofia.
